For Design Academy Eindhoven students Myeonga Seo and Marie Judith Le Gars, the project started with collecting pieces of nature in the forests around Eindhoven, such as mushrooms, branches, and sand. A growing interest in unexpected details like animal tracks, insect patterns, and annual rings grew into forms that eventually resulted in furniture objects. A tree trunk becomes a table, a branch becomes a pendant, and leftover wood becomes a bench. This way, the forest found its home in the domestic space.
Over the next few months, the Eindhoven walk-by gallery Salon Veneman will show the results of a French-Korean collaboration. The exhibition A Branch Becomes ... opens on Sunday, 15 January.
