Events during Dutch Design Week

You might be asking yourself: ‘Isn't Dutch Design Week one big event?’. That's right, but during this nine-day design fest, numerous mini-events take place. For example, DDW Music makes a comeback as Hit the City, and you can attend the DDW Talks live again. Of course, there are many other exhibitions and workshops on the program. Take a look at our top five events below!

We already mentioned it in the intro: DDW Music Festival is back under a new name: Hit the City. That means that after a day of browsing among the most innovative designs, you can enjoy tunes by up-and-coming music talent. At eight different locations and with more than 50 acts, Hit the City complements the day program with nightly escapades (okay, until 00:00). And all that for free. That’s music to our ears!

Why do you want to be here?
During the many exhibitions, you will discover incredible designs and will talk to its designers. That is very interesting, but maybe you want to know more about the diversity of disciplines and the future role of design. That's where the DDW Talks come in. These are eight talks on various themes: from Designing Society to all about Eco Pioneers.

Okay, maybe you wouldn't necessarily categorize it as an event, but de Design Shop is worth mentioning. This pop-up shop puts the coolest, brightest, and most inspiring products on display every year. What to expect? Their best collection yet, according to the hosts.

A small-scale performance where you can share a coffee with strangers. Sounds good, right? That's the essence of ‘That Distant Future When We Can Share a Coffee.’Chaeyoung Kim invites a minimum of three and a maximum of nine visitors to the table to experiment with a new way of communicating by using an uncertain moment.

Workshop: Down to Earth

Walking on air because of all the amazing design? So are we! The workshop 'Down to Earth' by Studio Jie Chen will keep you grounded for a while. During this workshop, you'll learn more about how local archaeological information can influence design processes, and you'll get to work with a future-proof design in ceramics.
