Food walk: De Bergen

A walk through De Bergen, also known as Eindhoven's Latin Quarter, is short but sweet and can be perfectly combined with an afternoon of shopping. On this route, we recommend five stops where you can enjoy traditional sausage rolls, heavenly macarons, and a strong cup of coffee. The perfect motivation for the next few meters of walking. PS This route also takes you to the Clausplein and the Victoriapark. A great way to get some extra steps in!

DENF

Where should we start without coffee? For exactly that reason, this food walk starts at DENF. You know, that delicious coffee shop on Clausplein. Not only an expert in everything coffee or tea (with grated ginger!) but also in sweets. We can recommend you anything: carrot cake, lemon curd cake, or a danish, but you can also press your nose against the glass showcase. We highly recommend it!

Directions
Turn left across the square and go under the Witte Dame. Walk straight along Lichtstraat until you reach the Victoriapark. Walk along the footpath towards the boulevard.

ZwartWit Koffie

The Dutch love coffee, hence the excessive number of places to score coffee. However, you won't hear us complain. You're standing in front of ZwartWit Koffie, founded in Victoria in Australia, brought to life in the Victoriapark in Eindhoven. A story like that makes you hungry that only a sandwich (with smoked salmon, spicy jackfruit, or spicy belly bacon) can satisfy. A thirst-quenching homemade iced tea completes the experience. Coffee is also an option.

Directions
Walk back through the park and take the stairs between the impressive apartment buildings. Walk until you reach Willemstraat, turn left, and cross the road. You have arrived at the next destination.

Houben Worstenbrood

The holy grail of snacks: the Brabant sausage roll. The ideal snack, but also suitable for a big appetite. And for this iconic delicacy, you can only go to Houben. When you walk into Willemstraat, the smell of sweet sausage rolls will lure you in. Or at least to the doorstep. Opt for traditional or experiment with the veggie version. Serve with cola or a cup of tea.

Directions
Go left along Willemstraat towards Wilhelminaplein. Walk past café de Gaper and Wilhelmina, and turn left on Sint Catharinastraat. Via Smitsstraat and Prins Hendrikstraat you will reach Kleine Berg. On the right you will find your next stop.

Dutch Homemade

Once on the Kleine Berg, Dutch Homemade is not far away. It is extra easy to spot this place when the sun is shining because there will be a big queue. Queue up anyway because your patience will be rewarded ... with homemade ice cream or the most delicious macarons. A cup of coffee, and you are good to go!

Directions
Walk down the Kleine Berg in the direction of the Emmasingel. Cross the street twice, first towards the Vrijstraat and then the Clausplein. Next to DENF, you will find the next stop.

Radegast

It may not officially be part of De Bergen, but too lovely not to include in this food walk. You may know Radegast040 as that spot for beers and bites, and good news, it still is. Get yourself a soup, pretzel, hot chocolate, or a beer to go and plop down on one of the benches between the greenery. Sounds like a plan to us!

Directions
Radegast is the neighbor of starting point DENF. You finish the walk by waving to that friendly barista. Goodbye!
