48 hours in Eindhoven

Combine good food, adventure, exciting stuff, and off-the-beaten-track fun, and you have the perfect city trip. Are you ready for an even more memorable experience? Eindhoven does it just a little differently. In just 48 hours, you'll get a taste of it.

Day 1

All-day breakfast at Meneer de Boer

Get ready for an energetic day. We advise you to start your morning at Meneer de Boer. A real public favorite are the pancakes with blueberries!

Visit Van Abbemuseum for a dose of modern art

After breakfast you can visit the Van Abbemuseum, open from 11.00 am. The museum for visual and contemporary art has an impressive collection, with works by Picasso, Chagall, Kandinsky, El Lissitzky, Theo van Doesburg, Mondriaan and Appel, among others. Sounds great, right?

Eat, drink, sleep in between design at Kazerne

Okay, it's too early to go back to bed, but Kazerne is a also a great place to have lunch or dinner. And you will stay in the art and design vibe a little longer. Kazerne is a former military barracks with an adjoining warehouse in the city center. The worlds of art, design, knowledge, and technology come together with good food and drinks. Don't forget to wander around one of the exhibitions, and the design shop. Musts if you ask us!

Van Abbemuseum

Hop on a bike at the central station

We must tell you something you might already know: we love biking in this city. So, before heading to the innovative district of Strijp, rent a bike (OV fiets) at the central station. Hop on, and don't forget to look up!

Breath in the innovation of Strijp

You probably guessed it by now, Strijp is a true breeding ground for design and innovation! The exciting and vibrant energy of the city can be felt everywhere. Start at the famous designer Piet Hein Eek at Strijp-R. Have a coffee at his impressive Lobby Restaurant and walk through the studios, showroom, and exhibition rooms.

Discover the forbidden city

Make your way to Strijp-S, the former 'forbidden city' of Philips, where you could only enter if you were an employee of Philips. This area has been open to the public since 2000 and a completely new district has formed over the years. New architectural additions like Haasje Over (the red one) and the Trudo Toren (the one with the greenery) make it feel like a whole nother city.

Must-visits of Strijp-S

In any case, make sure to take a look at the following hotspots: The Urban Shopper, a shopping paradise with 20 unique shops. Yksi, where everything revolves around Dutch design: the products are designed and often made in the Netherlands. Love of ice cream? Then drop by Intelligentia Taste Rooms. They sell special ice cream flavors like 'Orange is The New Black', ‘White Choco Rice Crisp’, and many more. Delish!

VANE Skybar

Next-level drinks at Skybar VANE

After a long day, take a break in your hotel and have a drink. A real must-visit is Skybar VANE. VANE offers you a great view over the city. And make sure to order a heavenly cocktail developed by one of the best bartenders in the world; Tess Posthumus.

Day 2

A breakfast party at Anne&Max

From 8.00 am you can have breakfast at Anne&Max. Great for early birds, but you might need to snooze one or two times after day 1. That shouldn't be a problem, because at this spot they do an amazing brunch. Mimosa's included. Good. Morning.

Lots of shopping to do

After breakfast, it's time to explore all the shops in the city center! You're already located in the district called De Bergen. Which is also known as the quartier de Latin of Eindhoven. Picturesque buildings, restaurants in abundance, and, last but not least, shops! Lots of shops! Discover fashion and lifestyle boutiques such as Label, Mensroom, Magda, and IQ Studio.

De Bergen

Some more shopping

Done shopping at De Bergen? Walk to the Nieuwe Emmasingel, a fairly new part of the city with all kinds of nice hotspots. Make sure to stop by Sissy Boy in the iconic Blob building and Homestock (where you're guaranteed to find a nice must-have for your home). Don't miss out on the city center's main streets, such as the Demer and Rechtestraat. Here you'll find big chains like Zara, Stradivarius, Bershka, Primark, and H&M.

Satisfy your hunger at Down Town Gourmet Market

Starved? Then take your shopping bags and head to one of the tastiest parts of Eindhoven: Down town Gourmet Market. At this place, 21 food concepts come together, from Asian to Italian. You're guaranteed to roll your way out of there! And if not, you just hang around for a drink on the terrace or at the bar.

Tip: In Eindhoven it is customary to pay by card!
