We're at Strijp-S. At the end of the long row with former factory buildings, you'll find het Veem. A building where history and future meet each other on twelve floors. Between the characteristic elements of the building, you can dive into a virtual reality world at Enversed, get a fresh taste in Vershal, or even live! Rik leads the way.
The Veemgebouw is a unique piece of architecture at Strijp-S. It's the only building that was built during the occupation in the Second World War. This can be seen by the concrete' mushroom columns' that keep the old warehouse for Philips equipment upright. The facade shows you that the building is divided into three equal segments and the horizontal white stripes tell the number of floors. The name 'Veem' takes you back in time, meaning 'storage.' The yellow doors and green railings take you back to the present, where there is room for a food hall, virtual escape rooms, and events like the Dutch Design Week.
Strijp-S is constantly expanding and is therefore welcoming more and more residents. They are lucky because they can make great use of the Vershal. Get some fresh herbs, meat products, loose leaf tea, wine, nuts, and more. Would you rather have someone cook for you? Then you can immediately grab a bite after you've run your errands. From Indonesian to Italian food, they have it all.
