A tip from Rik: Pand P

For this tip from Rik we head south, towards Leenderweg. Just a stone's throw from Parktheater Eindhoven you will find art and culture centre Pand P, better known by some as the former Plaza Futura. You recognize the building by the letters that are still largely displayed above the entrance.

Cinema

Rik explains that Plaza was founded in the 1950s as a cinema, at the time the only one of its kind in this region. Since 1985, only erotic films were displayed during a short period of time. Soon after, cultural centre Plaza Futura moved in, where cult films were shown and you could visit theatrical performances. In 2013 Plaza Futura moved to the well-known Natlab at Strijp-S.

Theater, music and dance

Pand P opened its doors in 2015. It’s a collaboration between Parktheater Eindhoven, Het Nieuwe Theater and youth theatre company Hetpaardatvliegt. Besides the fact that you can still regularly visit theatre performances, from small initiatives to try-outs by Dutch/Eindhoven comedian Theo Maassen, the programming now also consists of music and dance performances. Furthermore, Pand P hosts art exhibitions and organises dance nights and parties.

Dinner and drinks

You can also stop by for lunch or dinner. Fun fact: the menu used to consist of only vegetarian dishes. Nowadays you can also order prawns, a burger or spicy chicken. In the summer months, Pand P opens their large front terrace. On summer evenings it’s a nice place to relax with a drink, cosy lights and interact with the people on the adjoining terrace of the Pizzaplaats. Like to discover Pand P for yourself?
