Rik Verhalle
Rik studied architecture and is a city guide in Eindhoven. Every month he shares a tip.
This monthly tip from Rik is a little different: it’s online radio station Rararadio. The studio of the radio station can be found in Plug-In-City, a creative community on the Ketelhuisplein, but you can listen to this online piece of Eindhoven everywhere.
The Rararadio team streams live from a cozy container in Plug-in-City, including Persian carpets and cabinets full of vinyl, three days a week. The radio station started with just four founders. On January 5, Rararadio celebrated its two-year anniversary, the perfect moment to take a good look at their existing ambitions. The untamed experiment is fueled by the enthusiasm of around 75 volunteers and that leads to a renewed search for the next step.
Mincing words isn’t an option here. They are alternative and even a bit anarchistic. Rararadio subtly attacks sacred cows. Their passion for music stands above all but nightlife and diversity are also important subjects of conversation. What they really want is to create connections and offer a platform for culture in Eindhoven in a surprising way, by exploring the unusual. Besides online and in their studio, you'll also find Rararadio occasionally at TAC, the Van Abbemuseum, and events like STRP Festival. Looking for an extra dimension? Then Rik recommends the video live streams, which offer you a glimpse behind the scenes. Pay a visit to their website and listen to an unfiltered Eindhoven sound.
