5x Tea Towels from your Favorite Designer
Strolling through the virtual DDW, we discovered designers in many shapes and sizes. Yet there is one thing they have in common: the tea towel. Almost every designer has a signature piece in his or her webshop. Beautifully designed, fine materials, a great gift for the holidays. We’ve listed five Eindhoven-based makers who’ve designed some amazing towels (and much, much more).
VIJ5
Not a tea towel but a ‘two towel’, this design from VIJ5 is a tea towel and towel at the same time. VIJ5 is a platform for creators to develop new design products together. You can visit the studio and showroom at the Hallenweg by appointment. Or take a look in the online store.
VANTOT
Maybe you are familiar with the SUNSEEKER project that the Eindhoven-based design agency VANTOT is now working on. An interactive light installation in the Victoriapark in Eindhoven. VANTOT has an unstoppable drive to create and innovate. The beautiful tea towels are produced in the TextielMuseum in Tilburg.
Kiki van Eijk
Kiki van Eijk designed a series of tea towels in collaboration with Return to Sender, an initiative of Katja Schuurman: fair trade as a driver for sustainable development.
Piet Hein Eek
Piet Hein Eek's webshop is always a great place to be (just like the physical store at Strijp-R). Here you'll find, among other things, these funny tea towels in different colors.
Raw Color
They design for brands such as Adidas and Samsung, but also work on self-initiated projects. Daniera ter Haar and Christoph Brach of Raw Color are masters of color. Their series of tea towels can be seen as a research in color saturation and weaving technique.
