7x MedTech startups

With two large hospitals, a technical university that has a strong focus on health and a whole ecosystem of tech companies and designers, Eindhoven is a place where medical startups can thrive.

Many tech entrepreneurs kickstart at HighTechXL, the accelerator program at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Other medtech startups are a spin-off of the TU/e. Here you will find the Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center (e/MTI for research and the TU/e Innovation Lab and the TU/e Innovation Space for accessing the market. The leading Holst Centre also has a strong focus on health. The Dutch Design Foundation brings companies, healthcare professionals and designers together in the Embassy of Health. You can see the results of this every year during DDW.

Anyway, who exactly are these wonderful Eindhoven medtech startups that are going to conquer the world (and where you can work, check the vacancies)? We’ve listed 7 inspiring teams for you!

Bambi Medical

A premature baby often deals with adhesive electrodes and wires attached to hospital monitors. The Bambi Belt is a chest strap with sensors to measure temperature, heart rate and breathing. Such a chest strap reduces stress and pain for the baby and makes it a lot easier for parents to cuddle their newborn baby.

Bambi Medical was founded in 2015 by pediatrician Sidarto Bambang Oetomo and his son Fabio Bambang Oetomo. One year later, the team participated in the HighTechXL accelerator program. Meanwhile the clinical tests are ongoing. Check the vacancies at Bambi Medical.

Microsure

MUSA is the world's first robot for supermicrosurgery and was developed by TU/e spin-off Microsure. Operations on very small vessels (with a diameter of 0.3 to 0.8 millimeters) are complicated by the vibrations of the surgeon's hand. The MUSA therefore assists the surgeon during surgery, for example in the treatment of lymphedema. In this case, the MUSA robot helps to connect the lymph vessels to the blood vessels.

Sirius Medical

At the Eindhoven startup Sirius Medical it's about more precise surgery too, in this case in very small breast cancer tumors. When breast cancer is discovered at an early stage, the tumor is so small that it is difficult to locate. The Sirius Pintuition detects the tumor through a pre-inserted magnet (as small as a grain of rice) that helps to detect the tumor during surgery. Sirius Medical is located at High Tech Campus Eindhoven and is always looking for new talent.

The Bambi Belt makes it a lot easier for parents to cuddle their newborn baby.

Bambi Medical

Salvia BioElectronics

This startup works on bioelectronic solutions that restore the health of people with chronic migraines. The company recently raised 26 million euros to further develop its prototype. The idea is a kind of pacemaker to suppress migraine. The implant sends small currents to the nerves above the eyebrows or the back of the head. Unlike traditional implants, this solution is very small and therefore much more practical. There are several vacancies at this startup.

GTX medical

This company is developing a therapy that uses a spinal cord implant to restore the walking ability of people with spinal cord injury. This promising development will be further developed in the coming years at High Tech Campus Eindhoven and at the location in Switzerland. If you want to work for GTX medical, check the vacancies.

Plasmacure

Globally, every 30 seconds someone loses a foot due to amputation. Most of these amputations are caused by diabetic foot wounds. Cold plasma can stimulate wound healing. The Eindhoven-based Plasmacure developed an innovative way to insert cold plasma directly into a wound. If you want to contribute to the healing of chronic wounds, take a look at the vacancies at Plasmacure.

Preceyes

Another startup in robot-assisted precision surgery. Preceyes supports surgeons in eye surgeries. Here, too, the problem of trembling doctor's hands plays a role. The Preceyes Surgical System filters this tremor during vitreoretinal surgery. Would you like to strengthen the innovative team of Preceyes? Check the vacancies.
