King's Day 2021 | A Tip from Rik

Just a few more weeks and it will be King’s Day! Eindhoven was asked to host this 'special year' because of its close connection with technology. Fortunately, Eindhoven is always up for a challenge. What can you expect on this day? Online activities, inspiration & hotspots, and a dash of Orange. Rik takes you along the five chosen themes, each with its own host (kennismaker).

The Orange Room - Livestream

Orange fans take note: the NOS will broadcast the festive day from the Orange Room at the High Tech Campus. The King will be present with his family and will play the leading role in the talk show. The theme is KennisMaken (stands for knowledge, making, and meet) and you will see the King getting acquainted with design, technology, and inhabitants. The host for this room is Mike Weerts.

Party Room

A birthday deserves a party, in this case online. That is why the party room was created. An online environment where Björn van der Doelen will pop the confetti and introduce the live performances. On the program: pianist Joëll Borelli, rapper Fresku, and DJ La Fuente. In this way, you can get to know the Eindhoven party scene from your living room.

Into Tech

Are you into tech just like Tessie Hartjes? Then watch the accompanying live stream! Tessie is the driving force behind start-up Lightyear, where she and a team are working on the first long-distance solar car. On King's Day, she will introduce you to technological inventions and explain them during the broadcast. A little hint: a dance by drones!

Fond of design

With the annual Dutch Design Week and the Design Academy Eindhoven, Eindhoven can rightfully call itself the design capital of the Netherlands. This is where Gisèle Mambre comes in. She is a writer, storyteller, and above all a doer with an eye for design. During this day, she will visit young designers, discuss the importance of design and show you why Eindhoven is a great city for design.

Explore Eindhoven

In the rooms above you will become acquainted with the royal family and the characteristics of the city. But what if, like Rik, you like to go out and explore? The host, Lily Tjon, is an international influencer and experienced explorer and will show you around town. With the help of the program, you will discover highlights and hotspots to inspire you for your next visit to Eindhoven.

Would you like to join the party? Then go to Koningsdageindhoven.nl on April 27, 2021.
