Koelhuis | A Tip from Rik
There was always a reason for a party in the former cooling building. Ice cream cakes have been stored here since 1969. After about twenty years of preserving these cold cakes, the building was left empty. Large, remote, and without any sight of the inside, it was the perfect target for squatters. They wore off the building until a carcass was left. Which is now the perfect start for one of their plans, an outdoor terrace with the recurring theme: construction site chic.
This is not your typical relaxing spot, it’s the complete opposite of city beach Stadsoase de Zomertuin hosted by neighbor PHOOD. A place where 300 people are welcome to enjoy a line-up of fine artists, funky props, and delicious food. And to stick with the theme of a building site, they serve finger food like (vegan) hot dogs with special sauces. All made by non-other than the MINYOUNG Korean Food Lab, which provides a unique connection in the city according to Rik.
With the opening of the Koelhuis, Eindhoven not only has an additional terrace but also a lot to look forward to. Behind the scenes, their team is continuously working on grand future plans. With a mix of unique lighting experiences, future fashion shows hosted by Design Academy, and of course the weekly parties, this place will be kept warm for the time being before the final metamorphosis starts.
