Recap 2020 | A Tip from Rik
2020 may have been a crazy year, but despite everything Rik was able to share all kinds of Eindhoven tips. From outdoor activities to cultural initiatives, everything passed by. This week he won’t share a new tip, but a recap of five coronaproof tips.
Parks in Eindhoven
Did you know that Eindhoven is one of the greenest cities in the Netherlands? Now you do! Parks, city gardens, and more, in every part of the city you can find some kind of greenery. For those who can't choose where to go, Rik has highlighted three parks, including a lesson in history and indispensable sights.
Like cycling more than walking? Then this might be the tip for you. Last summer, Rik defied the famous Rondje Eindhoven. And even he, as an Eindhoven connoisseur and city guide, was amazed at what can be discovered by bike. Well dressed, it's worth hopping on your bike even in winter. Rik even selected some spots to get off your bike (some are temporarily closed) and explore some more.
When Rik tipped The Sessions, it was still called 'The Isolation Sessions'. In the meantime, the online performances have grown from nocturnal cut-and-paste work to full-fledged live shows that can be admired weekly from home. Read more about the start of the sessions and enjoy performances made possible by Effenaar and Dynamo. amongst others.
Another listening tip: the online radio station Rararadio. When you listen you obviously don't see it, but this Eindhoven station broadcasts from Plug-in-City, a creative communitylocated on Ketelhuisplein. Here the different shows are recorded and streamed together with artists and locals. This tip from Rik you will read more about the origin, the initiators, and the idea behind the online platform. And a plus, you can listen to show everywhere!
A walk around Woensel-West is always worth it. This neighborhood has made a major transformation in recent years. That’s why there’s cool things to see on every corner (think of colorful street art and architecture). Also fun is the playful AR scavenger hunt by Tante Netty, which takes you past friendly neighborhood characters. A funny enrichment for your walk.
Rik studied architecture and is a city guide in Eindhoven. Every two weeks he shares a tip.
