Rondje Eindhoven | A Tip from Rik

This week Rik is on tour, discovering new spots in Eindhoven by bike. Rik has taken on a big challenge by going on ‘Rondje Eindhoven’.

Ready.Set.Go!

Following a mapped out cycling route of about 59 kilometers doesn't seem the perfect activity for everyone. But it can sometimes lead to a completely unexpected day out, full of discoveries, greenery, and stops such as a drink at a previously undiscovered terrace. Even an experienced tour guide saw parts of the city previously unexplored.
To start with, you can hire all kinds of bicycles at the Cyklist. From the classic bicycle to a city tandem. It's also a great idea to reserve a table here at the end of the day for a beer and a ‘bitterbal’ or two. But let’s cycle first.

En Route

Eindhoven is a very green city and Rondje Eindhoven is the perfect way you can see it for yourselves. The route takes you along all kinds of parks in Eindhoven. Have a break -for example- at the Henri Dunantpark. A green park in the Woensel district with native plants, art installations, and a very nice pond. Picnics recommended!

If you cycle through the Stratum district, Rik tips the national monument on the Roostenlaan: the burial chapel of the Van Abbe family. It was built by Henri van Abbe and comes from the same hand as the Van Abbemuseum itself, architect A.J. Kropholler.

Find this route a bit too long or want to do it in parts? A smaller version is also recommended. For this, you don't follow the green, but the blue or red route. Good to know is that the signs can only be followed from one side! This 'blue' route takes you along the Campina grounds where you should definitely pay a visit to Onomatopee. Here you can score stylishly designed publishings and take a look at their current exhibition. Has Rik managed to convince you? Take a look at the route and plan your stops ahead!
