This is The Lobster en Ox

The big door of restaurant The Lobster & Ox on the Nieuwe Emmasingel swings open and owner Khesrouw Anwarie welcomes us at the door. “Nice to have you here!”, he says with a big smile. On the ground floor, the lunch is in full swing, in the open kitchen in the back of the restaurant the staff is hard at work...

Khesrouw takes us upstairs to the lounge. “Downstairs we serve lunch and dinner, and on this floor people can have a cocktail or champagne before or after dinner.” Design, flowers and soft comfortable furniture predominate in the atmospheric room. The cocktail and champagne bar is a feast for the eyes, well, for all senses actually.

Surf & Turf

In the restaurant, everything revolves around the Surf & Turf concept, in other words: dishes with a combination of meat, fish or shellfish. “We missed this concept in Eindhoven. Actually, it is rarely to be found in the Netherlands. In New York and London, the burger and lobster concepts are extremely popular. Instead of burgers, we choose good steaks and lobster as specialties of the house. Meat that has aged for 270 days is, in my opinion, the best meat in the world. The lobsters and all the products from the sea come from top supplier Jan van As.” Just looking at the dishes on the menu makes your mouth water: among other fresh seafood platters, oysters, ceviche, steak tartare, ribeye and of course lobsters in all sorts of sizes and preparations. In terms of drinks, The Lobster & Ox has a lot to offer: “We serve all our drinks by the glass, also the Dom Perignon. Because sometimes a whole bottle is just too much when you are in the mood for a festive glass of champagne. And when it comes to cocktails, we serve the classics, but we also like to experiment.”

“Nice to have you here!”

The Lobster & Ox

Highly Instagrammable space

Khesrouw opened The Lobster & Ox together with his business partner Bonny Lee, who is his longtime friend. "Bonny owns restaurant Arigato and I worked for him for a number of years. We had been looking around for a while where we could open a business together when the previous owner of this building told us that he was going to quit his business. A wonderful opportunity to open our restaurant here, right in the city centre. We immediately fell in love with this space. We stripped everything and decorated it in a way that the restaurant and lounge radiate warmth, with a luxurious and stylish touch. Designer Job Smeets of Studio Job has added a number of special elements to our interior.” When you visit The Lobster & Ox, be sure to take a look upstairs. There you will find a very photogenic and Instagrammable corridor!
