From 11 until 18 November, the city of Eindhoven will light up with the 12th edition of light art festival GLOW Eindhoven. This year’s theme 'The Source' will lead to yet another surprising variety of impressive artworks in the public space. We selected what we feel will be the five highlights for you to visit. Enjoy!
Light artists Dirk van Poppel and Jan Fabel pay tribute to the light bulb at one of the most iconic buildings in Eindhoven. The Blob will astonish and enchant you with a challenging light installation: not one cube is the same. Find out and see what that means.
The TAC-based designers Nikolai Gillissen, Almar Sinte Maartensdijk and Ricky van Broekhoven will take you to the source with their Sonos Ignitia project. As a visitor, you will experience a whole new sensation of fire that is driven by sound, making it come alive and dance around you. Walk through the project and feel all your senses being stimulated.
From lucifer factory to GLOW: Become part of a story about light in Eindhoven, with a spectacular show full of 3D projections, music, urban dance and special effects. 'Once Upon a Light' is a collaboration between Eindhoven organizations and artists, including DJ duo Showtek. Note: Once Upon a Light and Van Abbemuseum are the only two paid GLOW projects. Buy your tickets on the GLOW Eindhoven website.
Once again, the impressive St. Catharine’s church is part of the GLOW route. This time, the church will not serve as a blank canvas but it will play the lead: the projected images are derived from the neo-Gothic architecture and are brought to life by means of light effects. A project by German light artist Daniel Margraf.
