5x How to beat the heat
Previously we shared some tips for an ultimate summer in Eindhoven with you. But what do you do or where do you go when temperatures are rising? These are our 5 tips to beat the heat during the summer days in Eindhoven.
Swimming and other water activities
Place your towel in the shade under a big tree and take a refreshing dip in one of the recreational lakes in Eindhoven, such as Aquabest and the IJzeren Man, or the E3 Strand just outside Eindhoven. Looking for an original water activity? Go standup paddle boarding on the Dommel river!
Shady spots in Eindhoven parks
Did you know that Eindhoven is one of the greenest cities of the Netherlands? Escape the heat and find yourself a place in the shadow in one of the many city parks. For example, Stadswandelpark, Philips de Jongh Park, and the Karpendonkse Plas have enough large trees to place your picnic blanket under. You will also find plenty of shady spots along the Dommel on the TU/e campus. Also, check out our five most child-friendly parks.
Cool museum visits & expos
A museum may not be the first thing you think of when you step outside and feel the heat, but it can be the ideal place to cool off during a heat wave. This summer, you can visit the design expo 'Hope' by Ilse Crawford and Oscar Peña at Kazerne. But the Van Abbemuseum, Philips Museum, PSV Museum, and DAF Museum also offer fun summer activities besides their permanent exhibitions. And plenty of air conditioning.
Ice cold refreshments
We all scream for ice cream. Fortunately, there is no shortage of ice cream parlors in Eindhoven. Are you looking to cool down at Strijp-S? Then pay a visit to Intelligentia Taste Rooms and Pastry Club. Ice cream parlor Kees, Dutch Homemade and Baskin Robbins are some favorites in the city centre and De Bergen. But also in other Eindhoven districts, you will find plenty of places where you can treat yourself to some ice cream, gelato or frozen yogurt.
Summer movie nights
Cool down in the cold air of a movie theatre in the city centre. If you prefer to spend the evening outside; like every summer, Natlab organizes a number of outdoor movie nights. Snacks and drinks are available at the bar. Tip: BYOC (bring your own chair)!
