7 tips for a day out with the kids
The month of September offers plenty of things to do for children in Eindhoven. We've collected the best events, in no particular order, for you. From a sing along concert to an overnight stay in a historic farm, there is something for everyone. Enjoy!
Apple picking days | 8, 15 and 22 September
The orchard at the Philips Fruit Garden is full of ripe fruits. A beautiful place to stroll around, but also great for picking your own apples and pears. After an expert explanation on how harvesting works, you can get started yourself! In the yard there are stalls with local products to taste and learn from. Entrance is free, you only pay for the fruit you have picked.
Sing along concert Zeven sloten | September 9
Zeven sloten is a sing along concert for everyone from the age of four. The songs are about saying goodbye, getting lost and coming home. You will be introduced to the instruments of a reed quintet (oboe, saxophone, bassoon, clarinet and bass clarinet), each with its own sound. A fun and educational event!

Spend a night in the past | September 15-16
Travel back in time for a weekend and spend the night in the Prehistoric Village. During this weekend, you'll stay in a historic farm, eat as they did then and do the everyday things they used to do. This weekend is for everyone from the age of four who is interested in a weekend back to basic.
Light route | September 18 - October 14
Like every year, the Lichtjesroute starts on 18 September, the day Eindhoven was liberated in 1944. The aim of the light route is therefore also to preserve the memory of the liberation. Jump on your bike and drive (part of) the 22 km long route through Eindhoven.
Vanstreek Festival | September 23
GGzE is organizing the second edition of the Vanstreek Festival under the slogan 'Doing green'. There are plenty of tasty and entertaining activities for all ages, such as building and painting cabins, a visit to a beekeeper, face painting, eating ice creams from Intelligentia ICE and much more.
Eindhoven Maker Faire | September 29-30
The Maker Faire is watching, participating, learning and having fun at the same time: a mix of playing with technology, discovering creativity and being surprised by inventiveness. For two days, all kinds of makers share their ideas and convey their unstoppable enthusiasm to the audience consisting of children, grownups, students, start-ups, expats, teachers and researchers. Together they provide an interesting mix of creators working on things like steampunk, fighting robots, powertool racing, model making, drones, crazy vehicles and talking robots.
The Story of the Story | September 30
The Story of the Story is ‘pure Batelaan', a magical world that can ignite with sudden desires and expectations at any moment. A family performance for all those who haven’t been selected for the school soccer team, and for all those who have!
