Best places for your Christmas groceries
Do you already have a Christmas dinner game plan? Or do you have the luxury that someone will cook for you and do you only have to bring something tasty for the host or hostess? In Eindhoven there are a lot of places you can go to, to get some delicious ingredients or prepared meals for Christmas. We have listed them for you. Bon appetit!
Of course you can go to the nearest supermarket to do some Christmas shopping, but what about the Saturday market at the Woenselse Markt? You will find everything you need: from chicken to fish and special vegetables to fruit and cheese. Another great option is Vershal Het Veem at Strijp-S. Here you’ll find oriental spices, meat, specialty beer and Italian delicacies.
Christmas is the perfect occasion to show off your cooking skills. Even better if you get a little help. At La Semolina (De Stadspoort 6) you buy fresh pasta in all shapes and sizes, homemade soups, antipasti and how about their mouthwatering tiramisu? At Seabas The Urban Fisher (Grote Berg 14) you can order all sorts of fresh fish specialties for the holidays. Around the corner you’ll find Jokkmokk. If you want a dessert cheese platter, we advise you to pay a visit to this cheese specialty shop at Bergstraat 35.

Some freshly baked bread to go along with your dinner is always a good idea. At Stadsbakkerij Broodt (Smalle Haven 101) you can go for different types, ranging from wheat to spelt. Nice fun fact, some breads are named after Eindhoven locations like Witte Dame.
At Renders Bakery (Aalsterweg 55), the third generation of the Renders family is baking fresh bread every day. At this artisan bakery you will find a very extensive range of pies and bread. Possible to order online in advance at both Broodt and Renders.
Naturally, a good glass of wine is part of your Christmas dinner. Not quite the connoisseur? Could you use some help with your selection of wine? Then a couple of good addresses are a must. Pay a visit to Henri Bloem (Vrijstraat 10), Varna Wijnen (Hoogstraat 103) or Piters Wijnen (Vestdijk 2C). They will advise you on what wine fits your Christmas menu best.
After a spectacular main course, no doubt your guests will be in anticipation of dessert. Of course you can bake something yourself, but why bother when you can surprise everyone a spectacular (ice cream) cake? With pastry from Pinkie Patisserie / EMMA (Nieuwe Emmasingel 32), Pastry Club(Ketelhuisplein 7-9) or Intelligentia ICE (Leidingstraat 42) you'll certainly impress your guests.

Don’t forget to add a little eye candy to the table. Decorate the table nicely with some flowers or a Christmas piece from Bloemmarie (Gelderopseweg 90A) or Oktober in Huis (Keizersgracht 4). Nice little detail: add a Christmas cracker to every plate. You can find these at Hema, Flying Tiger or de Bijenkorf.
Don't feel like cooking?
Then we have a nice Eindhoven tip for you. On Tuesday 25 December you can join the Stamtafel dinner in Café 't Rozenknopje. You will get a fantastic three-course menu. Starting at 7:00 PM.
