Spring in Eindhoven
Ah, spring. Goodbye winter coat and hello sunny terraces! This is also the ideal time for a big spring cleaning. Do you think that’s too much work (we totally get it) and do you feel like procrastinating? Go outside! We have put together a number of ideal spots for you so that you can fully enjoy some Eindhoven sunshine.
A wonderful place, with or without children. The yard of this idyllically located organic farm is open to the public all day long. Visit the cows and chickens, take a look inside the cheese factory and pay a visit to the farm shop.
How about a tasting tour at the city brewery and catching some sun on the terrace afterwards? This bustling spot besides the Dommel has a cozy terrace with large picnic tables. Also check out the website or Facebook page of the brewery, because they regularly organize cool events.
Just outside the center, behind the city theatre, you will find the beautiful Stadswandelpark. Bring a blanket and picnic basket and relax in the green. Or take a walk along the special sculptures that are located throughout the park. From April to June on Sundays, there are special afternoon performances on in the Observatory, that will allow you to look at the sun with the large telescope.
VANE is enjoying the Eindhoven skyline, in the sun with a yummy cocktail in your hand. They have comfy lazy chairs waiting for you, but enjoying a snack and drink at one of the high tables is also an option. The ideal way to take in some Vitamin D.
The terrace next to the Lichttoren (light tower) feels a bit like a city beach with all the colorful beach chairs that are there. Just imagine some sand and water and you’re done. On this super central terrace you will always find a spot in the sun.

Sitting out of the wind and in the sun is pleasant when the temperatures are not that high yet. All restaurants at Victoriapark have one big terrace with little wind and almost a whole day of sunshine.
A usual suspect that should not be missing on this list: Market Square. Starting March, the entire square is full of terraces and people enjoying all the sunshine they can handle.
Last year, the terrace of Calypso got a complete makeover. Owner Louis Croonen started a collaboration with Eindhoven designer Aart van Asseldonk. The starting point for the design was that the terrace had to create a positive atmosphere in the popular nightlife street. It is a real treat for the eye.
You can find the Velosoof at the NRE terrain: a location that is in full development. This cycling café including workshop and shop is located in the Dommel Area, near the canal. You can go here for lunch, dinner or drinks. Or if your bike needs fixing.
Last year, El Puente chose nightlife street Stratumseind as its location. After a complete renovation of the building, they also constructed a terrace next to the Dommel. A very good move, if you ask us. A glass of wine and a tasty lunch, combined with a view of the Van Abbemuseum and the water is a perfect interpretation of a spring afternoon.
