Deconstruct | Walls with Paint
In “Walls with Paint”, Eindhoven local, photographer, and art fan Lukedaduke shares the story behind a special street art project in Eindhoven. This month: ‘DECONSTRUCT’, part of the final ‘revival’ around the Newtonstraat.
Woensel West is a city district that has been in development for years; old houses are being demolished and replaced with new rental and owner-occupied homes build by housing corporation Trudo.
Over the years a lot of building work has been done in the area of the Edisonstraat and there’s even room for new murals, perhaps more about those murals another time.
Since a couple of weeks, two housing blocks around the Newtonstraat are unoccupied.
A local artist/designer, Bouke Bruins - @boyscoutdesigner, asked Trudo for permission to paint the boarded up houses with some friends.
A couple of weeks ago, on a Saturday, a group of graffiti artists went to work and gave the walls new colors for the last time.
The work that is pictured on the photo is made by @__sabotage__. He had to prune the branches to free the wall and be able to add some paint.
De text says “DECONSTRUCT”, referring to the deconstruction of the houses.
The houses that will go down are already being fenced. So, not all the work is visible to visitors anymore, but some of the pieces are still visible from the street until the houses are demolished.
