Urban Sportpark ’t Schoot | Walls with Paint
In "Walls with Paint", Eindhoven local, photographer, and art fan Lukedaduke shares the story behind a special street art project in Eindhoven. This month: the 'new' coat at Sportpark 't Schoot by an international group of graffiti artists.
Step In The Arena has been one of the biggest graffiti festivals in Europe for over 10 years already. Due to COVID-19, it’s still unsure if there will be a 2020 edition, but if so the organization has September in mind for it.
The edition of 2018 was one of the hottest so far with temperatures over 30 °C. The organization arranged some extra set of walls just outside of De Berenkuil; the ones at Sportpark ‘t Schoot. The walls of the old sports canteen and dressing rooms of the soccer club LEW could use a makeover.
In 2017, the city of Eindhoven erected an Urban Sportpark at the old soccer pitch. There are devices for survival running and calisthenics. When practicing the latter, you perform strength exercises on a racked device.
The old canteen and dressing rooms already had a coat of paint on them, but the city wanted something bigger and more suitable. An international group of graffiti artists, like CHAS, FLEKS, SHANE RESER amongst others, spend the day after SITA’18 to give the walls a makeover.
The variety in style and technique was painted in the same color scheme so there was still unity throughout.
A nice graffiti jam with a great result. As it looks now, it's just a matter of waiting before another one can be organized.
