This district may not be the obvious choice, but it is definitely worth a visit. Stroll through the beautiful green villapark, get inspired by the NRE site and learn more about DAF's history at the DAF Museum. For a cozy evening of food and drink, you have more than enough choice on the Dommelstraat. Tip: Visit VANE for a beautiful view of the city in Eindhoven's only sky bar.
Behind the museum, Hub van Doorne started a small factory in 1928, that later emerged into DAF. There are many DAF vehicles in the DAF Museum, including sports cars and prototypes. In addition, both the workshop and the office of Van Doorne are replicated.
One of the most impressive properties in the Dommel district is Huize (or Villa) de Laak. The villa was built in 1907 on behalf of Anton Philips. The estate also includes a coach house, orangery, garden manor house, driver's house and a garden adjoining the Dommel. It owes its name to a side stream of the Dommel, the Laak, that previously ran through the area.
