Anyone who has visited the Ketelhuisplein during and after Dutch Design Week may already have noticed: next to the entrance of Area 51 Skatepark a beautiful space was created. Where first the windows were boarded up, an exhibition space has been created and the illuminated graphic patterns on the back wall are visually appealing by themselves.

For the third time Ulrike Jurklies presented a design installation during Dutch Design Week at Skatepark Area51. The approx. 35 meters long wall covering of her See-Through installation was deliberately designed to be a colorful eye-catcher, seen from the Ketelhuisplein, but to also offer a clean background for future installations. The graphic patterns were printed on biodegradable wallpaper Walltex Biovate; developed by Big Impact. Consecutive scenes show geometrical, stylized skate obstacles, which lay an abstract link to the location; one of the largest indoor skate parks in Europe. The colorful corridor offers the visitor a spatial visual experience.

The new expo space is primarily intended for (young) artists, who are preferably connected to the Urban Sports scene. The kickoff is for international renowned skateboard photographer Nicola Debernardi. Since 2011, Nicola traveled the world to photograph skateboarders. He photographs for the skatepark and for Confusion Magazine, an international magazine about skateboards. His exhibition 'An Antihero in Eindhoven' is a selection from photographs taken in August 2016, when the Antihero Skateboards team was in Eindhoven for the occasion of Daan van der Linden from Veldhoven obtaining pro status. The pictures show a selection of international and national top skateboarders such as Grant Taylor, Daan van der Linden, Raney Beres, Nick Bax and Jeroen Sars.

The choice for black-and-white photographs provides a challenging combination with the colorful back wall of the unique exhibition space next to the entrance of Area 51 Skatepark.
