Walls with Paint: Ode to the Passer Domesticus

In 'Walls with Paint', Eindhoven local, photographer, and art fan Lukedaduke shares the story behind a special street art project in Eindhoven. This month: an ode to the house sparrow.

The house sparrow. A common bird species in the Netherlands. Or a common saying in Dutch that’s used for someone who loves to stay at home.

Muugeherder painted a mural earlier this year to honor this little singing bird. You might have to search a little for this mural. Walk, cycle, or drive onto the parking lot of the supermarket located at the Geldropseweg.

The bright colors, graffiti letters, and the two sparrows are really standing out. Also noticeable are the two sockets, an image Muugeherder works with often. If possible, try and read the small piece of text on the mural: it’s an ode to the house sparrow that isn’t so boring after all.

And if you have extra time on your hands; go and take a look around the corner. There are several more murals to discover.
