7x Flea markets during King's Day

The Dutch flag is flying, orange delicacies are on the table, and many attics have suddenly been suspiciously well-organized — it can only mean one thing: King's Day is here. Besides the countless parties, there's one thing the whole country eagerly looks forward to: the flea markets. Got an entrepreneurial itch? These are the perfect spots to try it out. Prefer to be on the other side of the stand? You'll find plenty of second-hand treasures at these Eindhoven flea markets.

Piet Hein Eek

Our very own (design) king, Piet Hein Eek, hosts a flea market during King's Day. As tradition has it, everyone can claim a spot and sell their stuff. Piet will be there too, offering all sorts of beautiful things — from collectibles to antiques he's gathered over the years. Sadly, no Piet Hein Eek originals going for a bargain!l To complete the celebration, the Grand Café has been revamped (and will be open!), the fryers are on, the beer bar is rolled outside, and classic Dutch games are making a comeback. Pure gezelligheid!

Stadswandelpark

One of Eindhoven’s King’s Day classics: the Oranjemarkt in Stadswandelpark. This green oasis transforms into a massive and super lively flea market during Wim-Lex's birthday. Channel your inner Sherlock and snoop around more than 100 stalls and blankets piled with treasures people are eager to sell.. With some digging, you might score a vintage pair of sunglasses or a LEGO spaceship.

Celsiusplein

At Celsiusplein, things promise to get lively again, with stalls stretching all the way to the lovely vintage shop Van Alles en Co. You're welcome to bring your own blanket and sell your stuff —  just promise you won't skip the breakdance performances or TikTok dance acts on the lineup. Didn't score anything fun from the street vendors? No worries, head over to the Woensel Westside Stores for your retail therapy fix.

Kruisstraat and Woenselse Markt

Sure, all those King's Day activities are great, but rummaging through flea markets is what really counts if you're a true bargain hunter. You're probably aiming to check off every market on this list, but if you can only make it to one, make it this one. At Kruisstraat and Woenselse Markt, the regular Saturday market makes way for the city's biggest flea market, featuring a performance by the one and only Boer Harm. Time to dive in and see what treasures await — or kraampjes kieken, as we say.

Wilhelminaplein

Wilhelminaplein is a cozy hangout year-round with a royal-orange twist — peek at the names of the bars and restaurants and you’ll spot the royal nod. But on the king’s birthday, this square goes all out. You'll find stalls full of clothes, vinyl, and other attic gems. But we mostly want to steer you this way to enjoy free live music from bands like Flaming Sambucas and Nobleo Band & Mavo.

WoensXL

At WoensXL, they like to go big. So naturally, their Oranjemarkt is next-level. All the shops are open, and many shopkeepers have set up stalls. The rest of the shopping center is packed with locals on picnic blankets, selling their treasures.

Mini market on Bergstraat

King's Day pros know that visiting cozy Bergstraat is an absolute must. We’re quite certain even Willem-Alexander would give it a royal nod. His ideal itinerary? First, score a killer outfit at Walther's bargain corner. Next stop: Magda Boutique — can't show up to Máxima empty-handed. Then it’s beers, beats, and street dancing with the Bomb Voyage Boys. And if he's really feeling it, he can keep the party going with one of the 38 events on our list. You're only the birthday boy once a year, after all.
