Catharinakerk
The history of Collegium Musicum Eindhoven goes back to the 1980s.
- 10 min. walk
St. Catharinakerk is a Roman Catholic church in the downtown area of the Dutch city of Eindhoven, Saint Catherine of Alexandria. It is located at the Catharinaplein, which was built at the beginning of Stratumseind as a replacement for the dilapidated St. Catharinakerk.
In 1988 the foundation 'Muziek in de Cathrien' was founded, with the goal of organizing concerts in St. Catharinakerk. In 1997 the merger with the foundation 'Vrienden van het orgel' (founded in 1986) followed. The name Stichting Kerkconcerten Eindhoven was renamed Collegium Musicum Eindhoven in mid-2012.
The practical activity of this Collegium is the organization of the concert series 'Muziek in de Cathrien', which has become a living concept in Eindhoven and the region.
Many people have found their way to the Cathrien over the years. A full church on a Saturday afternoon is no longer an exception and the appreciation of the music is very high.
