What are you looking for?

As you near a specific plant, you'll hear the tones and melody associated with it grow louder. These sounds are based on data from Wageningen University & Research concerning the physiological processes of the Arabidopsis Thaliana, also known as thale cress. This inconspicuous plant is found all over the world and adapts to its environment at lightning speed. That adaptability is also evident in the installation on Wilhelminaplein. Just like the plant, the music adapts in real-time to both the place and the moment. It sounds very different on a drizzly evening than on a bright, sunshiny morning.

This way, you have a different experience each and every time. Arabidopsis Symphony will be on display in Eindhoven until early February 2023. The installation will then travel further around the world in search of new places and new melodies.

Arabidopsis Symphony

'Arabidopsis Symphony' by Fillip Studios immerses you in the rich world of plants. A column standing in Wilhelminaplein invites you to scan a QR code. Using augmented reality, human-sized plants appear on the square. You can traverse this virtual primeval forest while the music envelops you.
