DDW-tip: Piet Hein Eek

You enter a true design utopia at Strijp R, home to renowned designer Piet Hein Eek. In short, it’s well worth a visit.

Where?

Halvemaanstraat 30

Need a ticket?

No

How to get there?

It's a 10-minute walk from Strijp-S. With your back to the Klokgebouw, walk straight across Ketelhuisplein until you reach Torenallee. Turn right and pass under the viaduct. Follow this road until you reach the roundabout, then turn left. A little further on, you’ll find Piet Hein Eek on your right—it’s the big brown building.

Why do you want to go there?

Piet Hein Eek is a design hotspot all year round, but during DDW, there is even more to see and experience. Designers from around the globe showcase their work in the PHE-showroom. In addition, Grandcafé Piet Hein Eek is an absolute must-visit!

Our recommendations

  • Unleash your inner child and create your own building blocks from paper and water at Cubcho—an alternative to short-lived plastic toys.
  • Don’t put all your eggs in one basket at Dutch Design Week. These designers created the Egglamp—you guessed it, a lamp made from real eggshells. Available in five colors. And why, you ask? These are the very eggs considered 'too ugly' for the supermarket.
  • Turn your own drawing into a scarf—no drawing talent required!
  • WOLWEVERS makes wool blankets from local sheep: sustainable, local, and fairly produced with masterful craftsmanship.
