6x Find your favorite pub

A good pub feels like coming home. The trick is to find one that suits you. And just as some love Ed Sheeran while others can’t stand to hear 'Perfect' one more time, choosing your favorite pub is a matter of taste. Let's get you started. Here are our six tips for your new hangout. Will we see you there?

Café Wilhelmina

Actually, we recommend all cafes on Wilhelminaplein. Did you know that this square was once built for Queen Wilhelmina's visit to Eindhoven? Today, many venues still have a royal reference: Hotel Benno (after Prince Bernhard), Hotel La Reine and Café Prins Hendrik, and who knows: even the king crab on the menu of Proeflokaal de Gaper might be a referral. Café Wilhelmina (Wilhelmien for insiders) is a music pub and home to many cycling clubs and other associations in the city. Everyone is welcome here.

The Little One

This place on Jan van Lieshoutstraat is the city's smallest pub. The crowd is a fun mix of locals, newcomers, and tourists. Don't have anyone to go there with you? Just walk in on your own, as this regular did over thirty years ago. You will make some new friends for sure.

Hoogste Tijd

When you think of a pub, a plant-based menu is not the first thing that comes to mind. But at Hoogste Tijd (High Time in Dutch) it’s all about dancing, drinking and eating delicious vegan food. Hoogste Tijd is located in the middle of the city on the Vrijstraat. On Fridays, awesome DJs make you dance the night away. High time to visit this place!

Eetcafé Bommel

Eetcafé Bommel has been around for at least forty years. For many groups of friends, this pub on the Kleine Berg is the starting point for a fun evening out. But even on your own, enjoying a drink and a magazine from the rack, this is a great place to be. Extra nice: at Bommel they will also service you super tasty meat, fish, or veg food. Check their Facebook to see what's on the menu today.

Café 't Rozenknopje

Suppose you're looking for a second living room. In that case, you can visit one of the oldest and most atmospheric bars in town seven days a week. 't Rozenknopje attracts a colorful mix of locals because, as regular visitor Ger puts it: anyone can become a regular here. What is the best day of the week? Perhaps Monday. Then it's time for the StamTafel (a group dinner at the long table for a small fee), and the second beer on Mondays is always free. Some traditions should be kept alive, they know at 't Rozenknopje.

The Jack

Rock café The Jack is the place to be for great live music and unique beers. But also for a game of darts, pool, table soccer, and fun pub quizzes. At this pub on Stratumseind it's all about having a good time. We totally agree!
