From Nijmegen and Den Bosch to Eindhoven

Did you know? Eindhoven, just like Nijmegen, is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. What do they have in common today? A love for (urban) culture, green spaces, and innovation. Along the way, you’ll pass the beautiful city of Den Bosch. A place that might seem like the opposite of Eindhoven at first glance, but there’s more than meets the eye. Traveling by train from Nijmegen to Eindhoven for a city trip? Make your journey complete with a stop in both cities, with your final destination: Eindhoven.

Your journey starts in Nijmegen

From Nijmegen, it’s about an hour by train to Eindhoven, with a quick transfer in ’s-Hertogenbosch, often on the same platform. Or step off to explore Den Bosch on foot; the city center is just a 10-minute walk away.

Why stop in Nijmegen?

Eindhoven and Nijmegen share an industrial charm and a young, creative energy. Both cities know how to turn former industrial sites into vibrant hubs for urban sports and culture. And when it comes to throwing a party, both cities got you covered: Eindhoven with Dutch Design Week and GLOW, Nijmegen with the lively Vierdaagsefeesten.

Our tips:

We thrive on the new rather than the old. Experience that fresh energy at Nyma, a transformed industrial area along the Waal river. Raw and full of character, it’s where food, drinks, pop-ups, and markets come together. Check out Waalhalla skatepark. You don’t need to skate to enjoy the vibe! Like our own Area51, but with a twist. Here, graphic designers and skaters cross paths. Tired of watching tricks? Relax with a view of the Waal at Rex or De Achtertuin. Nyma always has something going on, and just a few miles away you’ll find the same vibe at De Kaaij, Nijmegen’s cultural riverside terrace.

Make a stop in Den Bosch

From Nijmegen, it’s just 30 minutes to ’s-Hertogenbosch. From there, Eindhoven is only 17 minutes away.

Why stop in Den Bosch?

Den Bosch is postcard-perfect: a charming old town, canals, and all the hallmarks of a storybook city. Eindhoven may not be as pretty, but it’s packed with fun. Look closer, and you’ll find similarities, especially when it comes to design. These two cities complement each other perfectly on your city trip.

Our tips:

Eindhoven has Strijp-S; Den Bosch has Tramkade, a hip creative hub where old warehouses and silos have been transformed into hotspots. Another shared passion? Design. Visit Cor Unum, a ceramic studio where craftsmanship takes center stage. We salute you, Eindhoven talent! And don’t miss the Design Museum, though we think it belongs in Eindhoven, we’re happy it’s just next door in Den Bosch.
