5x How to beat the heat

What do you do or where do you go when temperatures are rising? Here are five tips to beat the heat during the hotter days in Eindhoven.

Enjoy water fun

Eindhoven isn't situated on the coast, so we need to be a bit more creative when it comes to water fun. Fortunately, there are plenty of places where you can spend the whole day (almost) by the water. Cool off at one of the city beaches like Aquabest and the IJzeren Man, or Duynenwater (former E3 Strand) just outside Eindhoven.

Seek shade

Did you know that Eindhoven is one of the greenest cities in the Netherlands? For an afternoon in the shade, choose from one of the many Eindhoven parks. While you're at it, why not make it a picnic? We know a few perfect picnic spots. As the sun sets and the heat diminishes, these places allow for firing up the grill..

A refreshing museum visit

A museum or exhibition might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you step outside and feel the heat, but during a heatwave, it's an ideal place to cool down — hello air conditioning! Dive into our museum guide for all museums and exhibition spaces.

Grab yourself an ice-cold treat

Who can ever get enough ice cream, right? Instead of chasing down the ice cream truck (it's way too hot for running), check out our list of ice cream parlors. Not in the mood for ice cream but still need a cold treat? Iced coffee is the answer.

Cool off at the cinema

Spending an afternoon or evening in the coolness of a cinema falls into the same category as museums, as far as we're concerned. Visit places like Natlab or LAB-1, where plenty of thrilling films are showing for bevery age! If you prefer to be outdoors in the evening, you can attend the Natlab Outdoor Cinema in August... just don't forget your chair!

Summer time magic

Summer time is a magical season. The city becomes your playground, with tons of festivals and events. Music, art, design, food: Eindhoven has it all. Ready to make some plans for this summer?
